About the Project: In 2025, VCV- Serbia celebrates its 20th anniversary by continuing its mission of working for the common good through grassroots action. To mark this milestone, VCV is developing a peaceful, off-grid educational and retreat center on a one-acre plot of forested land in Tavankut—an area known for its flat, sandy terrain, wild nature, and historical significance.
Type of Work: volunteers will help out in construction and nature conservation. This includes cleaning the land, cutting invasive species, some grass, deconstructing an old building. The idea is to have a camping area by the end of summer.
Over the weekend, there will be a music festival Malomfest (https://www.instagram.com/malomfesztival/) in the area. The festival days are free days from work.
Accommodation: Volunteers will stay in tents (VCV provides small tents for 2 volunteers/tent and matraces). Bring your own sleeping bag! Outdoor shower and compost toilets provided. The volunteers will be cooking in an outdoor kitchen (stowe and fridge will be provided). Food will be prepared by the volunteers (kitchen teams) and it will be local and vegetarian, with a vegan option.
Important notes:
- It is not possible to access in a wheelchair.
- VCV20 are making a documentary, so some of the volunteers might participate in the movie (if they would like to).
- Biodegradable cosmetics only, as showering water is used for the fruit trees.

VSI is a small charity and we charge a fee (€55 - €155) to volunteer on our projects, this includes food, accommodation, basic insurance whilst on the project and VSI annual membership. Volunteers pay for their own travel to the country and internal travel to/from the projects and any visa fees.
