About the Project: Volunteers will work alongside local volunteers on various environmental projects with the London Wildlife Trust, the only charity dedicated solely to protecting the capital’s wildlife and wild spaces.
Type of Work: Volunteers will take part in practical tasks such as woodland management, cutting & clearing grasslands, picking up litter, removing invasive species, hedging and improving pathways.
Study Theme: Volunteers will visit Lesnes Abbey Woods, a historic woodland and park in South East London, known for its environmental events. They’ll also meet local activists from the London South IVS/VAP group.
Accommodation: Volunteers will be in shared rooms with basic amenities at the South London Scout Centre, located in a quiet woodland. The group will cook their own meals.
Location: Dulwich, South London.
Requirements: Volunteers should be in good health as the work is quite physical. Sleeping bags, waterproof work clothing and a good pair of boots will be needed.
Extra Fee: This project requires an extra fee of £50 GBP in addition to your sending organisation’s fees. This will help cover food and accommodation costs. The fee should be paid in advance (further instructions will be provided to applicants).

VSI is a small charity and we charge a fee (€55 - €155) to volunteer on our projects, this includes food, accommodation, basic insurance whilst on the project and VSI annual membership. Volunteers pay for their own travel to the country and internal travel to/from the projects and any visa fees.
