We are delighted to share a story of Eva Carolan who has recently finished her volunteering on an ESC project in Croatia!
Eva spent seven months volunteering with Mi Association Split, an organisation dedicated to community-building and cultural exchange. As part of her role, Eva took part in planning and leading a variety of creative activities including art workshops, culinary sessions, cultural evenings, and even contributed articles to the association’s website.
Eva described her experience for us:
"My volunteering experience was with Mi Association Split. Our activities included planning and participating in creative workshops, culinary workshops, cultural evenings and writing articles for the website. All the activities were enjoyable, and we were given a lot of control over what we wanted to do. During the 7 months I travelled extensively within Croatia and, with volunteers I met at the ESC training, went to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Hungary. Through this experience I had the opportunity to meet amazing people that I wouldn’t have had the chance to meet otherwise. It gave me a lot of time to think and reconnect with myself. I would recommend anyone to do it as I loved every part of it!".
Eva’s experience highlights intercultural enrichment, and friendships that volunteering abroad can bring. We are proud of her commitment and enthusiasm, and we hope her story inspires others to explore similar opportunities with the European Solidarity Corps.
