Unique Volunteering Opportunity with VSI to Mexico, Mauritius and Nepal from April 2014
VSI needs 3 volunteers aged 20 to 30 years with previous volunteering experience and with writing, photography, video and media skills to join an exciting project on the theme of citizenship including a 40 day volunteering project in Mauritius, Mexico or Nepal.
Together with partners in Italy, Nepal, Mauritius and Mexico we are starting an exciting 6 month project combining volunteering, job shadowing and research on the theme of citizenship and social exclusion. More details and application procedures.
This will be recorded in an e book which will be completed at the end of the project.
- Volunteers from Ireland and Italy will travel in teams of 2 to Mexico, Mauritius and Nepal in April of this year and carry out field research on the theme of citizenship as well as joining in local volunteering projects.
- Volunteers will attend a seminar on the Rights of Citizenship in Rome in June andto share experiences with the incoming volunteers.
- Volunteers from Nepal, Mauritius and Mexico will visit Ireland and Italy during July to join in volunteering activities and carry out research on the theme of the project.
- Both sets of volunteers will be involved in a seminar on the theme of citizenship, in Ireland in early August and to shareexperiences
- Volunteers will work on the production of the e book on Citizenship
- Irish volunteers will organise a local seminar in Ireland in October to share learning on the project with VSI members and interested people from other organisations.

Costs: Volunteers have to cover 30% of travel costs to Nepal, Mauritius or Mexico + the seminar in Italy. All other hosting costs are covered –food, accommodation, internal travel etc. Volunteers must pay a Project Fee of €180 (wage earners) or €150 (non-wage earners) which includes membership of VSI.
