Workshops for local school children in Croatia
Syncro is an organization active in the field of education, personal development, skills training and youth support. They're looking for a volunteer from Ireland, one to join their group ESC project from 18 April 2020 to 13 June 2020.
About the organization
Syncro was founded in 2010 with the aim of supporting the enhancement of quality of living and the development of human potential through powerful educational and personal development experiences. Being a part of the International Synergy Group, Syncro is joined in the common vision of creating a world that works for everyone. Syncro’s mission is to encourage young people to reach their potential, to create a learning space via personal development training, and to provide opportunities for others.
During the 8 weeks (18.04.2020 - 13.06.2020) 10 volunteers from different countries will implement intercultural workshops in a local school and library in Savica neighbourhood, Zagreb for children aged 6 - 10. Participants of this project will create and implement those workshops in pair with elderly local volunteers. Volunteers will be presenting their countries, language, history, and culture to 120 children in 6 groups through an after-school program in the local school and estimated additional 120 children from the neighbourhood attending 3 other schools in the area through workshops in the local library.
Volunteers will organize 5 Syncro throughout the project. These workshops will give the opportunity for local youth to get to know the volunteers and the countries they come from. The content of the workshops will be based on the topic of interculturality. Apart from that volunteers will implement their individual personal projects - the personal project will be a part of this volunteer’s activity that will give a space for the volunteers to create something that they have always wanted to do, something that is for free for the people participating in it and something that aims at improving the quality of lives in the local community. Syncro will give support to the volunteers by creating a frame for their actions, coaching them to express their ideas, agreeing on deadlines and next steps, but the content of these projects will be created by the volunteers themselves.
No specific skills or experiences are required for this role, but the volunteer should be highly motivated to join this project.
All 10 volunteers will be living in Funk Loung Hostel located in the centre of Zagreb. For the purpose of this project, there will be rooms booked only for the participants of this project. Each volunteer will receive pocket money and money for the food. The volunteers will be provided with public transport tickets for the duration of the project. Insurance will be provided to the volunteers as part of the project.
