4 Jul 2011
12 Volunteers are needed for a project concerned with the theme ' how much material growth do we need?'
DE-SCI 3.13 Berlin-Dahlem 17/09 - 01/10 2011 12 vols
Niemoeller House has a long tradition in hosting and making use of SCI workcamps. The former pastor`s home is used by various political and peace organisations, church groups and NGO`s.
They use the rooms and the garden for regular meetings, seminars, special events etc.
Some part of the building is used by the Dahlem protestant church community.
The Workcamp has the motto „How much material growth do we need - simply living better?!" You will deal with movements like „Degrowth Movement" in England or „Mouvement des descroissance" in France, who criticise overconsumption and the growth paradigm of the western countries and develop new models of living.
The work will be mainly in the big garden: composting, repairing paths and an old stone wall, clearing out an old barn and building a new siding for it. The study theme will be thinking about your own way of living; getting to know sustainable consumption; meeting with groups and organisations who deal with environmentalist, anti-consumerist and anti-capitalist ideas
